Limited company buy to let

Holding property through an SPV lets the company treat mortgage interest as a business expense. Rates are typically higher than personal-name products but the tax position is often better.

Common questions

Frequently asked

What is an SPV?

A special purpose vehicle is a limited company set up solely to hold property, usually registered under SIC codes 68100, 68201, 68209 or 68320. Most buy-to-let lenders will only lend to an SPV rather than a trading company.

Is a limited company always cheaper?

No. Company products usually carry higher rates and larger arrangement fees. Whether it works out cheaper depends on your tax band, how long you hold the property and whether you draw the profits. This is a question for an accountant, not a broker.
